World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option allows players to boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like perfect broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. This bonus may exceed the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can cause.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a good aspect, but it may also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're extremely lucky.
Armor items can also be upgraded to improve their stats. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, it will boost its base defense while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain when upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button in the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats but not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survivability. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. The more defense your character is, the more value you get out of each point of health therefore it is important to upgrade your armor as much as possible.
To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock each one you have to complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in frigid conditions with a lot of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you can survive a raid with friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll have to focus on enhancing it to increase physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you use for the final boss fight and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also gain benefits to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have some improvements to the chest armor and helmets to let you stealthy battle certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the user the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each having specific effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount of XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a craft table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades varies based on the type of potion used and the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to select the potion you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they'll give you when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.
When a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you take it out again or break the bottle in the container it is kept. You can also rename the potion by clicking it in your inventory.
There were a few updates to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. Splash potions for instance have now a duration of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The table of potion can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be mixed in cauldrons. The same applies to using a potion in a cauldron that is full. This will deplete the liquid, and then refill the bottle.
Finally, there are simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone can also be added to potions that are lingering to increase their effects. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It could also refer to a small ornament or object that has a purpose but is not important, like a thimble. In some cultures, a trinket is used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. They can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their stats.

The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. One can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base level as the old trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear and finally other equipment that they won't be replacing in the near future (such as rings or cloaks). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For instance, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should prioritize upgrading their helm, chest, shoulders, and belt.
When they are no longer useful trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional bonus of 1. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
